Why are we #HelpingPeoplePeriod?

Menstrual products are expensive! We founded Seattle T2P2 on International Women’s Day 2017 to provide menstrual products to low-income, students, and unhoused people. Tampons and pads are considered “luxury” items ineligible for purchase on government assistance programs like food stamps. If you’re a person living on the streets, in transitional housing, or a young adult, it can be hard to afford $13.25 a month for menstrual products.

Without these products, people have to improvise using rags or use toilet paper while staying near public restrooms for several days. Watch this video from Bustle which explains what it’s like to be unhoused and unable to afford menstruation products.

While organizations servicing these people do an excellent job of providing a safe place to sleep and a warm meal, they often rely on what is donated to them. These donations don’t typically include menstruation products like pads, tampons, or liners.

What We Do

We address the need for menstruation products by generating awareness, hosting donation drives, and donating 100% of the proceeds and menstruation products to organizations servicing homelessness, low-income womxn, and students. We then package products donated to us in Period Packs, which typically contain 10 tampons and 5 pads. Seattle T2P2 is proud to partner with over 30 local organizations and stock 3 Period Product Pantries throughout the greater Seattle area.

You can find our Period Product Pantry locations here, get products for your organization here, check out our events here, or learn how to get involved here.

Our Impact

We launched Seattle T2P2 on International Women's Day 2017. In our first year, we raised over 5,000 pads and tampons for Seattle's homeless and low-income people. These were distributed to shelters and used to create Period Packs: compact, waterproof packs of 10 tampons and 5 pads.

Get Involved

If you want to support our organization with your time and talent, we always need good people to host donation drives, host packing parties, build Period Packs, make deliveries, design marketing materials and more!

DONATION DRIVES

We partner with local organizations and businesses to host donation drives year-round! Our events range in size and location, from a Stuff the Trunk event at Green Lake Park to a Drop & Drink at the Stepping Stone. Other folx add a donation drive box to local businesses or ask friends to bring a box of tampons or pads to their private get togethers. If you are interested in hosting a drive, check out our Period Product Drive Toolkit. It has everything you need to get started!

PACKING PARTIES

After a successful drive, we need folx to help create our Period Packs! Packing Parties usually take place at someone's house, local coffee shop, or restaurant. We’d love for you to join us or host a party! Here’s our calendar of events and contact info.

FUNDRAISING

We do a few fundraisers throughout the year and are looking for hands to help with creating marketing visuals, contacting local businesses, and researching additional funding avenues. We use the funds to raise awareness, buy and package supplies, host and advertise events, and pay for operating expenses (like this website).

Community outreach

We’re proud to partner with and provide supplies to over 30 local organizations. We are looking for volunteers to help us expand the number of organizations we partner with and to nuture existing partnerships.
